TICKER: Death of alleged man-eater: Prison authorities begin probe of Clifford Orji’s death

The Lagos State Command of Nigeria Prisons said that the cause of death of Clifford Orji, an inmate, was being investigated by its medical team, its Public Relations Officer, Mr Chuks Njoku said.

Clifford Orji, an alleged ritualist and cannibal, died in Kirikiri Maximum Prison, Friday, where he was an inmate
for over thirteen years.

Njoku disclosed that: “An autopsy is ongoing by our medical team to determine the cause of his death before we can invite his family.”

Njoku said that the body of late Clifford had been deposited in a mortuary in Lagos.

Clifford was arrested under the bridge at Toyota Bus-stop on Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, Lagos with human parts.

He was subsequently charged before the Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, but died while awaiting trial.
