TICKER: Government to involve 1m youth in agriculture

Efforts by the Federal Government to involve youths in commercial agriculture yesterday received a major boost as it unfolded plans to engage one million of them in it.

The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina, explained that the government would collaborate with the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to empower 10,000 youths in each state. The youths are also expected to employ three more persons.

The minister, who disclosed this in Abuja during the launch of the youth in agribusiness programme, said the entrepreneurs would be called Nagropreneurs.

The goal is to create a million young agricultural entrepreneurs in the country by 2015, he added.

  1. I'm very much interested in this and I'll like to know how to benefit from this scheme.

I'm already putting up some structure for Poultry/Egg business and Fish Pond, but currently unable to Stock up the Poultry due to unavailability of fund.

I'll appreciate if I could be considered for this opportunity.

    Warm regards,
