TICKER: Kanye West ponders his use of swear words, “Stevie Wonder never had to use bitch to get his point across”

Grammy award winning producer/rapper Kanye West turned to his 8.4 million Twitter fans and revealed his personal struggle over using the controversial terms b*tch and n*gga in his music.

In a rare move by Kanye he entered into an open discussion on Twitter Sunday (September 2).

“I usually never tweet questions but I struggle with this so here goes… Is the word B*TCH acceptable?,” he tweeted September 2nd.

“To be more specific, is it acceptable for a man to call a woman a b*tch even if it’s endearing?”

“Even typing it in question form it’s still feels harsh?”

“Has hip hop conditioned us to accept this word? Do we love this word as much as we love the word N*GGA in an endearing way?”

“correction, Here’s the age old question, would we refer to our mothers as b*tches? Would’ we call our fathers n*gger or better yet N*GGAS?” (Kanye West’s Twitter)

“If n*gga is such a positive word, why do we feel so uncomfortable for white people to say it, even with a hall pass?”

“Is it ok to use b*tch as long as we put BAD in front of it? Like you a BAD B*TCH”

“Perhaps the words B*TCH and N*GGA are now neither positive or negative. They are just potent and it depends on how the are used and by whom?”

“Feelings are the only facts”

“quote: Excuse my French but I’m in France”

“What if there was no profanity… What if we decided to legalise profanity in a sense? In France they play songs with cursing on the radio”

“please excuse any and all of my grammatical errors”

“I was recently questioned about the use of the word B*TCH in my music and initially was offended by anyone questioning anything in my music”

“Stevie Wonder never had to use the word b*tch to get his point across”

“I will admit that I sometimes go back an omit cursing from my records. I like to use profanity as a tool and not a crutch.”

“I’m not tweeting to say what we need and what we don’t… I just wanted to think out loud with you guys today…”

Kanye recently revealed that his song “Perfect B*tch” was about his current girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

Kanye West has the perfect chick and he’s not afraid to brag about it. After previewing unreleased music at NYC’s PH-D Rooftop Lounge early Saturday morning (“around 1:30 a.m.”), West took to Twitter to confirm one song in particular, reportedly named “Perfect B*tch,” is about his girlfriend Kim Kardashian. “I wrote the song Perfect Bitch about Kim,” ‘Ye tweeted. (Billboard)

In my opinion, what has happened is what I will call the “LupeFiasco Effect”. Fellow Chi-Town rapper Lupe, released the thought provoking, critically and hood acclaimed song “B*tch Bad” and it really has Kanye being more conscious of his lyrics. Either way, Kanye has always been outspoken and I find it a good thing when he, and other artists, truly open themselves up and share their feelings and thoughts about this thing called LIFE.
