TICKER: Man in jail for beating his girlfriend… with her own dog

A Florida man picked up his girlfriend’s dog and beat her with it during a heated argument, police said.

Michael Wayne Jones, 42, is in jail on charges of domestic battery by strangulation, criminal mischief and animal cruelty, WKMG-TV reported.

He was fighting with his girlfriend Thursday at their Sanford home when she decided to leave.

When she tried to drive away, Jones allegedly grabbed her dog, swung it in the air and then hit her with it.

He also choked her before pedaling away on a bike, taking the dog with him, cops said.

Officers eventually tracked him down and arrested him. He is being held on $2,700 bond.

The girlfriend and the dog both suffered only minor injuries.

Amazingly, this isn’t the first time that a dog has been used as a weapon in a domestic violence case.

Emmanuel Alfredo Tadeo of Sandy Spring, Ga., confessed last month to stomping on his girlfriend’s Pomeranian, breaking its neck, and then beating his girlfriend with its corpse.
