TICKER: Oops! Flight attendant brings revolver through Philadelphia airport security and gun accidentally fires

There were some tense moments at Philadelphia International Airport Sunday after a gun belonging to a flight attendant accidentally went off.

The gun was spotted inside Republic Airlines flight attendant Jaclyn Ruby’s bag by TSA officials around 6:30 a.m. as she was going through security.

Philadelphia police were notified and when an officer tried to unload the gun, it went off.

Luby said she forgot it was in her bag.

Investigators say the flight attendant has a valid gun permit. She has been cited for passing the gun through a security checkpoint.

Evers says the discharge is being investigated by Internal Affairs and the officer who accidentally discharged the gun will go back to training on handling weapons.

No one was hurt.
