It was an event to celebrate the late and great Whitney Houston, who tragically passed away in February this year at the age of 48.
And Jennifer Hudson chose to honour the singer at the We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute to Whitney Houston event on Thursday night, by channelling one of Houston’s looks in the Eighties.
The 31-year-old wore her hair in an almost identical voluminous half-up and half-down style, and a near-matching outfit to one Houston wore onstage when she performed in 1987.
Hudson also went retro with her make-up, opting for a bright green eyeshadow and neon pink lipstick combination.
The American Idol star also did a dance on the red-carpet, which was very reminiscent of Houston’s moves in I Wanna Dance With Somebody.
Jennifer displayed her curves in the Eighties ensemble, consisting of washed out black high-waisted jeans, a black turtleneck and oversized Tweed blazer.
She accessorised with a leather belt and black ankle boots.
Later in the evening, the former Weight Watcher spokeswoman slipped on some leather gloves to perform on stage.
Jennifer was joined by several other big name celebrities at the event, including Britney Spears, Halle Berry, Usher and LL Cool J.
Britney looked great, showing off her toned legs in a grey fitted minidress, featuring pleated bell sleeves.
The X Factor USA judge accessorised with giant gold hoop earrings, lace-up booties and a huge smile.
Once again the 30-year-old’s blonde hair was immaculately coiffed and her make-up expertly applied.
It was just another fashion hit for the pop star, who has clearly hired a better stylist in the past few years.
Meanwhile, Halle looked glamorous, displaying her curves in a form-fitting little black dress, featuring lattice cut-out detailing in the skirt and the same around her decolletage, transforming the dress into somewhat of a halterneck ensemble.
The actress paired the look with some strappy heels and diamond-shaped hooped earrings.
