TICKER: Sign calling President Obama a Kenyan “village idiot” stirs controversy

Two anti-Obama signs in Hanson, Mass are creating quite a stir, according to The Enterprise.

Both signs creatively malign President Obama, with one depicting a young girl shooting a bird and saying, snarkily, “Thanks Obama, you’ve spent my lunch money, my allowance, my inheritance, 35 years of future paychecks. You Jerk.”

Of course, the young girl on the placard making an obscene gesture at the President is presumably not old enough to know that George “Dubya” Bush began two unfunded wars, cut taxes on the rich, and began the bailouts. Her memory is too short for that, I suppose.

The second controversial sign reads, “Somewhere in Kenya a village is missing its idiot” then continues, “OBAMA-One Big Ass Mistake America.”

This sign plays on the conspiracy theory of the tin foil hat contingent of the Republican Party, which believes that President Obama was born in Kenya. Of course, in order for this theory to be plausible, the person who published President Obama’s birth announcement in a Hawaii newspaper would have to have predicted that Obama would one day become leader of the free world, but when have facts even mattered to conspiracy theorists?

This sign stands outside a motorcycle shop owned by Robert Sullivan, the man who is responsible for both signs.

Even though Sullivan’s sign calls Obama an idiot, it is Sullivan who was stupid enough to post the signs without a proper  permit.

Robert P. Curran, Hanson building commissioner and zoning enforcement officer, told the Enterprise that the signs put Sullivan in “violation of general bylaws.”

Sullivan, however,  claims that he and his attorneys have resolved the issue with city officials.
