TICKER: Woman attempts to murder her 15-year-old son because she “couldn’t afford him”

Sheronda Hall Roselva, 50, was arrested for trying to kill her teenage son by beating him with a baseball bat and attempting to stab him. Roselva felt she had no choice because she couldn’t afford to take care of him. When police responded to the 911 call her 17-year-old son made, Roselva was sitting on her porch with a baseball bat in hand and a knife by her side. She told officers, “I wanted to kill my son because I cannot take care of him and I don’t want him to suffer.

According to her son, he was in his room sleeping when Roselva walked in and immediately started attacking him with the baseball bat. She repeatedly hit him in the head with the bat before leaving the room and returning with a knife. She told her son “I have to kill you,” and raised her hand to carry out the act. The boy was able to grab his mother’s arm to stop her from stabbing him. He merely escaped the home and ran to a neighbor’s home for safety. That’s when the Lauderhill, Florida, police were called. John Burroughs was working outside when he saw the boy running, yelling for help, and called 911.”I see she was coming with a butcher knife [in one hand] and some kind of object in her other hand,” Burroughs told a local newspaper.

The boy was treated for a small cut and bruises on the back of his head at Plantation General Hospital. Roselva is unemployed and has lived in South Florida her entire life.  Her bond was set at $50,000 Monday (Sept. 11), and if she is able to post the amount, Roselva will be monitored by a GPS tracking device. She is not allowed to have contact with her son.
