I will not anoint any candidate for Speaker – Tinubu

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, insists that he will not impose any candidate as the next Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Tinubu says he will not interfere in the process of selecting a successor for Adeyemi Ikuforiji.

The former governor of Lagos state made his position known on Thursday, when two chieftains of the party visited him in his Bourdillon residence to seek his support for Lagos Central Senatorial District to clinch the office.

Chief Tajudeen Oluyole Olusi and Alhaji Mutiu Are, had gone to seek the support of Tinubu in ensuring that the Speakership seat be zoned to their senatorial district, specifically Lagos Island Local Government.

However, Tinubu was quoted to have said to them: “I have not anointed any candidate and I will not anoint any. Let the Assembly members choose whoever they believe can lead them aright.”
