The Kano State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, failed to conduct ward congresses in the state last Saturday following moves by its leaders to adopt a consensus arrangement in picking the delegates.

The spokesperson of the party, Musa Danbirni, disclosed this to journalists, after a meeting by the leaders where the consensus option was considered.

The party held its ward congresses in the 36 states of the federation on Saturday.

“What held us this long is that we were trying to achieve a consensus arrangement,” Mr. Danbirni said after the parley held at the home of the Minister of Education, Ibrahim Shekarau.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Aminu Tambuwal, has alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party, its Chairman, Adamu Mu’azu, and others are hatching a plot to forcefully remove him from office.

Tambuwal, in a fresh application before a Federal High Court in Abuja, alleged that the PDP and Mu’azu were working with the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Mohammed Adoke, and Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Emeka Ihedioha, to carry out this plot.

The Speaker alleged that they intended to hatch this plot by illegally reconvening the sitting of the House of Representatives before the lawful resumption date of December 3.

BARELY 48 hours after the conduct of the Peoples Democratic Party local and ward congresses in Rivers State, 16 governorship aspirants have shunned the appeal panel that began its sitting in Port Harcourt on Monday to address the outcome of the local and ward congresses.

The governorship aspirants, who had earlier boycotted the congresses, vowed that none of the delegate aspirants that were stopped from submitting their nomination forms would appear before the appeal panel.

Addressing newsmen on Monday, Mr. Soalabo West, the Director General of one of the governorship aspirants, Major Lancelot Anyanya (retd.), stated that over 2,000 delegate aspirants had no confidence in the ability of the appeal panel to look into their complaints without being partial.
