Former Head of State, Muhammadu Buhari, on Tuesday said he would contest the 2015 presidential election on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

He said he decided to run because the Peoples Democratic Party-led federal administrations from 1999 till date were purposeless and that there appears not to be a government in place in Nigeria at present.

Mr. Buhari, who disclosed this in Abuja while addressing about 60 different groups urging him to run for the presidency said he would make his declaration formal on October 8.

Ex-Niger Delta agitators say they are ready to sacrifice three months of their allowances and set aside N10.5m to purchase the Expression of Interest Form for Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson to contest the 2016 governorship poll.

The ex-militant youths, under the second phase amnesty and drawn from the eight Local Government Areas of the state said the fund would be raised by the 6,166 ex-militants under the phase.

They said apart from procuring the Expression of Interest Form for the Governor, they would also raise campaign posters for President Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2015 presidential elections.

Ebonyi State Governor, Martin Elechi, on Tuesday said there is a possibility that the 2015 elections will be postponed if the present insecurity in the country continues.

He stated this in Abakaliki, the state capital, during a media chat, as part of activities marking the country’s 54th independence anniversary and 18th anniversary of the state’s creation.

Elechi, who was responding to a question on his successor, said the people of Ebonyi State will decide who succeeds him in 2015.

The All Progressives Congress has slammed INEC for acting too little, too late by issuing a warning on illegal public political broadcast and campaign, saying INEC’s belated action is highly suspicious.

In a statement issued in London on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, the party said INEC’s action, coming after the PDP and President Goodluck Jonathan have been campaigning endlessly for the 2015 elections, can only be to the disadvantage of other candidates and political parties.

”Is it a ploy by INEC to give undue advantage to the PDP and its adopted sole presidential candidate, President Jonathan, in next year’s elections?” it queried

Chief of Staff to the Cross River State Governor, Dr. Alex Egbuna, alongside five other members of Governor Liyel Imoke’s cabinet on Tuesday resigned to pursue their aspirations in various elective positions.
Information from a source at the office of the Secretary to the State Government at 6.15pm indicated that the five others that have put in their resignation included the SSG himself, Mike Aniah; the Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Patrick Ugbe, and the Commissioner for Works, Legor Idagbor.
Others are the Special Adviser on Investment Promotion; Gerald Adah and the Special Adviser on Budget, Peter Oti.
