Former Head of State, Gen Muhammadu Buhari(retd) has condemned the bombings in Kano and Jos, saying the actions of the terrorists, not sanctioned by any religion, will not succeed.

In a statement by the All Progressive Congress presidential candidate, made available to newsmen, Saturday, Buhari said the nation will overcome its presents challenges.

” I condemn, unreservedly and with every strength in me, the recent terrorist attacks in Kano and Jos, the two historic cities that are known for their rich cultural and religious heritage.

Minister for Special Duties, Mr Tanimu Turaki, has said that the Federal Government has given the Independent National Electoral Commission all that is required for a successful conduct of the 2015 general elections.

Turaki stated this on Saturday in Bauchi while fielding questions from journalists on preparations being made by the Federal Government for a successful conduct of the polls.

“Mr President has ensured that INEC gets every support that is needed in terms of funding, in terms of logistics arrangement for them to make adequate preparations for this election.

He assured that 2015 elections would be much better than that of 2011.

A former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Dr Okwesilizie Nwodo, is set to battle the incumbent Chairman of the party, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu and other members of the National Working a Committee over the outcome party’s senatorial primary conducted in Enugu North senatorial District.

The former national chairman of the party is said not comfortable with the party’s subtle plan to adopt the result of the primary submitted by the electoral panel, led by Sen. Anthony George Manzo which was said to have declared Chukwuka Utazi as the party’s candidate for Enugu Northsenatorial zone.

At the Manzo-led election, which was held at Government Field
Nsukka, Utazi polled 324 votes, to beat Nwodo who scored mere four votes while another aspirant, Dr Martin Oke scored three votes.

The opposition party, All Progressives Congress, is beaming with immense pride at the moment, owing to the orderly manner in which it conducted its presidential primary elections.

Several of its chieftains and leaders have openly given themselves pats on the back for a job well done, and Lagos state governor, Babatunde Fashola has also joined the bandwagon.

Fashola made the comments on Friday, December 12 at a State Dinner held in honour of the immediate past Chief Judge of Lagos State, retired Justice Ayotunde Phillips and the incumbent Chief Judge, Justice Olufunmilayo Atilade.

The governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ogun State chapter, Gboyega Isiaka, has debunked reports that his mandate had been nullified by the national headquarters of the party in Abuja.

Mr. Isiaka disclosed this in a statement to journalists on Saturday in Abeokuta.

He said his mandate remained intact as the primary which produced him was done under due process.

“In the last few days, I have been inundated with many calls and messages from my friends, associates and party members who want to know the true position of the mandate that I hold as the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ogun State for the 2015 general elections,” he stated.
