Three officials of the All Progressives Grand Alliance in Imo State died in a road crash in Edo State while returning from Abuja to the state.

A statement on Tuesday in Abuja by the National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Umeh, named the three party officials as Mr. Tony Mgbeahurike (State Publicity Secretary); Obinna Ibe and Uche Okeke, a pharmacist.

They were said to have died in an auto crash at Uromi, while returning to Owerri from Abuja where they accompanied the party’s governorship aspirant, Okey Eze, to collect his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the party’s national secretariat.

The Benue State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party officially announced the end of its ward congress which lasted from Saturday to Tuesday.

The PUNCH gathered that three people lost their lives during the exercise, just as several houses were set ablaze by thugs.

Chairman of the exercise in the state, Chief Chike Udenze, while briefing newsmen in Makurdi the state capital declared that the congress was free and fair.

Udenze maintained that it was only normal in democracy for people to hold different views hence the delay in the outcome of the exercise in the state.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal Tuesday stormed the National Assemble without security details.

Tambuwal who arrived NASS at about 10:45am in an SUV jeep spotting white agbada and cape to match was accompanied by APC lawmakers who shielded him all through his stay.

The speaker who was in NASS to declare open two public hearings slated for 11am and 12noon respectively later went to his office.

The October result of the monthly NOIpolls on governance has seen the ratings of President Goodluck Jonathan drop from the high figures it recorded in the month of September.

The latest publication of governance poll results by NOIPolls for the month of October 2014 revealed that a total of 60% of adult Nigerians approved of the President’s performance over the past one month.

In the NOIPolls, respondents to the poll were asked three specific questions.

Former president Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday visited former military president, Ibrahim Babangida, who just returned from a two month medical treatment in Germany.

Obasanjo also met with his estranged deputy, Atiku Abubakar, at the Minna International Airport where the two leaders buried their differences and hugged each other.

The Nation gathered that Obasanjo was in Minna to visit the recuperating Babangida, while Atiku who had visited the former military president was in the town to attend the presidential declaration of Sam Nda-Isaiah of All Progressive Congress (APC).

Obasanjo, who arrived in a plane with registration number – GDOUR along with Senator Andy Uba, Chief Ayo Fashawe and a unidentified lady at about 4:30pm was about to be conveyed to Babangida’s house when his attention was drawn to the presence of Atiku at the airport.
