The Peoples Democratic Party’s leaders in Edo on Monday said that President Goodluck Jonathan’s credibility gave him party’s endorsement for the second term.

The Edo PDP Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, in an interview in Benin, said “nobody is contesting President Jonathan’s second endorsement.

“PDP members have agreed on his performance and sincerity, no complains”.

Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has said that it was a tall dream for President Goodluck Jonathan to think that the defection of Chief Tom Ikimi from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party would sway victory for PDP in the state.

Oshiomhole, who was reacting to a boast by President Jonathan that the PDP would recapture Edo State in 2015 and 2016, said it was unfortunate that the President was being deceived by PDP leaders in the state.

The Governor, who spoke through his Political Adviser, Hon Charles Idahosa, said the President should have checked how many persons defected alongside Ikimi to the PDP.

He noted that the Binis which constitutes over 50 per cent of Edo population have been marginalized by the PDP-led federal government, adding it was a tall dream for President Jonathan to think that Esan godfathers would win Edo for him.

Youths from the South-South and South-East geo-political zones, under the aegis of Team GMB, have called on Nigerians to give former head of state and presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gen Muhamadu Buhari the chance to fix the country, by voting for him as the next president in 2015.

The youths drawn from the 11 states in the South-South and South-East zones declared that Buhari, who contested the office of the president in 2003, 2007 and 2011, will run for the 2015 presidential election on the platform of the APC, even though he had not officially declared his intention.

Leadership

The PDP in Osun State on Monday raised an alarm over what it described as the filthy environment of Osogbo, the state capital, and its environs.

The party, in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria in Osogbo, said the development might lead to an outbreak of epidemic.

The party’s Chairman, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, said in the statement that: “PDP as a responsible party was not comfortable with the present development.”

Punch

The National Judicial Council (NJC) may convene an emergency meeting over last week’s attack on courts and judges in Ekiti State by pro-Governor-elect Ayodele Fayose thugs, The Nation has learnt.

Mr. Justice John Adeyeye was attacked by Fayose’s supporters, who tore his suit, at the Ado-Ekiti High Court premises.

A report on the incident has been written by Ekiti State Chief judge, Justice A. S Daramola, whose court room was invaded and record shredded. Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Mariam Alooma Muktar, who is the NJC chairman, got the report on Friday, according to sources.

It was gathered that the NJC is of the opinion that a firm decision must be taken on the matter to strengthen  the esteem of the judiciary.

  1. I just don’t know what makes the PDP think they must rule Nigeria knowing fully well that they are a total lost in the art of governance! Infact I will never waste my time and word about the second most currupt party(PDP) in the whole world.
However, they should learn to serve their country not serving their selfish desires derived mostly from ritual obedience to their so called spiritual fathers.
