Ekitigate: Former PDP chieftain, Tope Aluko sings like a canary… to the DSS

The whistle-blower- former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Dr. Temitope Aluko has been quizzed by the Department of State Services over his revelation that the last governorship election in the state was rigged by Governor Ayo Fayose.

Aluko was interrogated at the national headquarters of the DSS in Abuja on Friday, Punch Newspapers reports.

The former PDP chieftain had revealed on Channels Television, that he and several others were involved in the successful bid to rig the June 21, 2014 Ekiti State governorship poll.

Aluko had also alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Fayose $2m for the PDP primary and $35m for the governorship election.

During his visit to the DSS, Aluko was asked to provide evidence of his allegations and he reportedly made available copies of the allegations he made against Fayose, whom he says has been his friend for 40 years.

Aluko was said to have submitted the list which contained names of the three persons from each local government- who were assembled by the governor to identify weak points in each local government, the roads, strong opposition polling units and names of key opposition leaders.

The report further states that Aluko was asked to explain how the PDP allegedly used 1,040 soldiers and another 400 unrecognised soldiers to rig the election.

A source was quoted to have said: “He (Aluko) is also providing details on his allegation that special stickers were provided for the vehicles used.

“He is also telling us what he knew about the procurement of black materials for the hand band for the operators of the strike team and the members of the 44 special strike teams.”

“Definitely, the names of those listed there, especially those serving with us, would be invited for interrogation,” the source added.
