Three persons, including a pastor died, while over 50 houses were destroyed as rainfall wreaked havoc in Igarra, headquarters of Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of Edo State, on Sunday.

Among the victims of the rainfall, which stated at about 11.00 a.m, were a girl and a pastor, who were said to be travelling to Igarra from Auchi in a commercial vehicle when their vehicle broke down in Egbigere, about five minutes drive to their destination.

They were said to be pushing their vehicle before the flood, occasioned by the rain, swept them off the road into a nearby river, where the two of them died.

Their corpses were said to have been discovered on Monday morning.

A middle-aged man in Utua community was also said to have visited a friend when the building collapsed on him.

His body was recovered from the debris, also on Monday morning.

Oba Adeche Saiki, the Otaru of Igarra, who spoke through the secretary, Otaru-in-Council, confirmed the sad news.
