Lucky Sunday, a 23-year-old man, has reportedly committed suicide in Bukuru, Jos South local government area of Plateau State.
According to his mother, Cecilia Sunday, the young man hanged himself in her room for unknown reasons.
He did not leave a suicide note either.
“I had just returned from the market where I went to sell grains when I discovered him. I was drenched from the rain, so I went straight to the bathroom to remove my cloth. After that, I tried to enter the room but it was locked from the inside. I banged and called out his name but there was no response,” she said.
Cecilia Sunday went on about how she discovered her son’s body saying, “After some time, the neighbours informed me that he must be sleeping, as they had heard him singing alongside a song which was being played over the radio.
“After a while, I forced the door open and there he was dangling from the ceiling. I went to report the matter to the police. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead,” she said, close to tears.
According to Emmanuel Abuh, the Plateau State Police Command Public Relations Officer, the incident has been reported to the police.
“It is true; we have a report of a young man who committed suicide by hanging himself in Bukuru, Jos South LGA of the State capital,” he said.
