Sheng Fi, a woman in southern China, tried to commit suicide by jumping from the roof of a 100ft tall nine storey building in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province.

A UK daily newspaper reported yesterday that Sheng had earlier smothered her nephew to death and thrown his body off the roof.

She was said to have had a bitter row with her sister-in-law (the boy’s mother) and decided to take it out on the young boy by throwing him off the roof before trying to make her own attempt at falling to her death.

Police say, “She admits she’d thrown the boy’s body off the same roof. She will still die now, but by a firing squad for murder.”
