Tribunal upholds @GovAyoFayose’s election

by Kolapo Olapoju

An election tribunal court has upheld the election of Ayo Fayose as governor of Ekiti state.

Following the June 21 governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared as winner, Fayose, having polled majority of votes in all the 16 local government areas of the state to defeat the incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi.

3 weeks later, the APC filed a suit to challenge the result of the election at the election petition tribunal sitting in Ado Ekiti.

The tribunal, which is headed by Justice Siraj Mohammed, dismissed the case because of lack of evidence to prove that the election was marred by irregularities.
