Troops kill female suicide bomber, lose soldier in Borno

The Nigerian Army have killed a female suicide bomber and four other members of the Boko Haram sect in Borno.

Spokesman of the Army Col. Sani Usman, said this in a statement on Friday stating that the suicide bomber was neutralised by a sniper while trying to gain entrance into a military location at Yamtake in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

“Yesterday at about 9.45pm a suspected female suicide bomber attempted to enter the military location in Yamtake, Gwoza Local Government Area,  Borno State, but a vigilant sentry on duty gunned her down and she died instantly.

“The failed suicide bombing attack was followed up with futile probing attack by terrorists which was decisively dealt with by the troops.

“The troops killed all the four attackers including two suicide bombers and recovered two AK-47, three Magazines, 109 rounds of 7.62mm (Special), one torchlight, one Water bottle, three Magazine carrier, one Illuminator pyrotecnic  and some quantity of drugs. Unfortunately, we lost a soldier in the process,” the statement read.

However, Usman said that a soldier was killed in the second attack by the insurgents.
