Ebola: Two Nigerians quarantined on arrival in Vietnam [DETAILS]

Two Nigerians who flew aboard a Qatar Airways flight to Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Son Nhat Airport have been taken to a city hospital after being found to have flu-like symptoms on Tuesday, 19 August.

Th chief of the Heath Ministry’s Preventive Medicine Department, Tran Dac Phu, said the two passengers who were seated in 25B and 26D, departed Nigeria on Monday, 18 August, on the QR964 flight.

The pair have been transported to the quarantined area of the Ho Chi Minh City Tropical Diseases Hospital to stay in isolation for 21-days.

The Preventive Health Department, the city’s Pasteur Institute is working with the World Health Organization (WHO)’s Office and the US Diseases Control Centre in Vietnam and has sent blood samples taken from the two Nigerians for further testing.

In a similar vein, Hanoi health authorities say they are watching three students from Nigeria for flu-like symptoms after they arrived in Vietnam between 31 July and 8 August.

Health authorities said the students, who are asked to stay indoor under a 21-day fever watch, remained healthy, and underwent medical check-ups everyday. They were asked to inform health officers as soon as they have symptoms of fever, headache, vomiting, diarrhoea and haemorrhage.

Meanwhile, the number of Ebola cases in Nigeria has risen to 12, with five reported to have almost fully recovered, while four others have died from the virus in the country.
