UK High Commissioner pledges UK’s support to Nigeria as British Council launches year-long cultural season, UK/Nigeria 2015–16

The United Kingdom, has pledged her support to Nigeria’s businesses, institutions and individuals.

The pledge was made by Simon Shercliff, Acting High Commissioner of the UK to Nigeria, at the season announcement of the British Council’s year-long cultural season, UK/Nigeria 2015–16.

UK/Nigeria 2015–16 is a major season of arts in Nigeria aimed at building new audiences, creating new collaborations and strengthening relationships between the UK and Nigeria.

“We will work with businesses, institutions and individuals to support innovative and ever-more diverse relationships between the UK and Nigeria.” Said Mr Shercliff.  “Nigeria is our friend, our ally and our partner. Let’s use this programme to turn that friendship into something really special.”

UK/Nigeria 2015–16 is organised by British Council, the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. The season kicked off with the Season Announcement on August 20, 2015 at the British Council office in Ikoyi, Lagos while other events and projects during the season will begin in September 2015 and run until April 2016, creating new connections in arts, education, innovation, trade and investment.
