A young boy (names withheld) in Oyo state reportedly hung himself when asked to go and read his books.

Police spokesman, DSP Olabisi Clet-Ilobanafor said the boy committed suicide on March 31, at about 6:15pm. The incident was reported to the police by one Bamigboye Zachaus who resides E7/854, Aiyekale Agugu area of Ibadan.

According to Zachaus, he noticed the boy was no-where to be found and a search revealed that the 13-year-old had taken his life.

“Zachaus told the police that he raised an alarm when he observed that the victim’s body was still warm as he immediately untied him.

“He rushed the boy to Adeoyo State Hospital, Ring Road, Ibadan, for medical attention, but he was later confirmed dead by the doctors,” DSP Clet-Ilobanafor reportedly said.

The boy’s body has been deposited at the mortuary while the autopsy report is processed.
