Nyanya bomb blast

The country has once again been thrown into grief after news broke of a bomb blast in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, this morning.

According to sources, a car bomb went off in the popular Nyanya motor park in Abuja during rush hour hitting multiple buses.

Witnesses say two buses full of passengers were struck in an explosion which many considered an act of terrorism.

Reports say about 40 bodies have been evacuated from the scene of the blast while several injured people have been taken to different hospitals for proper medical attention.

According to a source who spoke with a YNaija correspondent, the blast happened early in the morning just about 15 minutes before 7am.

“It happened closed to the bridge. I was on my way to the office when I heard the loud explosion. The vibration was felt all around the area. There was dust on the roof of my office and even the lighting were affected.

“It was very loud,” he added.

Last month, a group of detained Boko Haram members attempted a jailbreak from the SSS Headquarters within the vicinity of the Aso Rock Presidential Villa. The audacious attempt was foiled by men of the DSS and a group of gallant soliers.

No one has, however, claimed responsibility for this attack.
