GNI House on fire in Lagos Island

Disaster struck on Monday morning when the Great Nigeria House, a 15-storey building located along Martins Street, off Balogun, Marina Lagos Island was razed by fire.

According to reports, the Director in the Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaq Fadipe,  said the fire started at about 6:30 am, immediate response was gotten from fire fighters of the Onikan Fire Station.

It was gathered that no lives were lost as the building which housed many offices had not for business at the time the fire started.

Around 11am, there was a stampede over fears the building might collapse. Two people were injured.

Another young man was rushed out from the building. He was said to be helping some traders to evacuate their goods.

Efforts are still ongoing to put out the flames.
