Vertonghen extends Spurs contract till 2019

Jan Vertonghen has signed a contract extension that will seem him tied to Tottenham Hotspur till 2019.

The Belgian defender who put pen to pen in the presence of his manager, Maurici Pochettino expressed his delight at the new deal.

Speaking with Spurs TV after signing a new deal, Vertoghen, said, “I was very happy once I put my autograph on te paper. I was extremely happy, a big relief. I’m very happy to be here, the future looks great, so I’m very happy to be part of it. This is an unbelievable group of talent and I feel privileged to be a part of that. We’ve created a great atmosphere in the team and there’s a great buzz around Tottenham.”

He added, “It feels great to be a little part of the big part that Tottenham is. I can’t imagine playing somewhere else at the moment. We have a great team, the technical staff, medical staff, everyone around the club, the press, all great guys, and it feels good to help Tottenham achieve the goals they want to achieve. This is probably the strongest squad that I’ve ever played in, and I think everyone agrees with me.”

Vertonghen joins Harry Kane who extended his contract with Spurs till 2022 on Thursday.
