Walmart employees may be fighting for higher wages, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t serious about their jobs.

In December 2012, Your Black World reported the case of an alleged shoplifter who was gunned down by a Walmart security guard as she  attempted to flee the scene.  Now comes the case of the Florida Walmart employee who erupted in anger after another employee won the Employee of the Month award.

The Broward County Sheriff’s office reports that employee Willie Mitchell was so upset that his female coworker won the award earlier this month that he went outside and fired sho†s into her vehicle after learning the news.

Surveillance video reportedly shows Mitchell pulling his car in a parking space next to his coworker’s vehicle then rolling down his window and firing into his coworker’s vehicle. His co-worker was inside Walmart during the incident.

“She was announced as the employee of the month which you would think that would be something good, people would be happy for her,”said Broward County Sheriff’s Office Spokesperson Veda Coleman-Wright, according to CBS 4. “But there was one employee who wasn’t happy.”

Police believe that there had been some bad feelings between the two coworkers. According to the victim, Mitchell told her “I’m going to show you.”

Investigators can’t quite wrap their heads around the motive for the incident.

“Perhaps Mitchell wanted to be employee of the month but clearly these actions that we saw in response to this, I think we see why he wasn’t chosen as employee of the month,” the Sheriff’s office said.

Walmart confirms that Mitchell has been relieved of his duties at the Walmart store where he worked.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm into a vehicle.
