‘We are tired of him…’ – PDP leader, Kashamu opens up on his grouse with OBJ

by Akan Ido

Buruji Kashamu, the Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-west, has accused former President Olusegun Obasanjo of pursuing a selfish interests without considering the next generation.

Kashamu who has had a running battle with the former military General spoke to journalists recently saying his spat with Obasanjo stemmed form a clash of interests.

He said, “PDP has been liberated. When Baba Obasanjo was controlling the whole of South-West (PDP); that was what happened (marginalisation) and that is why we have been fighting since those days.

“Not that I hate Baba Obasanjo; it is not that I don’t have respect for elders; but we are tired of people who will be saying something today and be saying another thing tomorrow. We are tired of imposition. We are tired of selfish interests.

“The people who are supposed to join their hands together and fight for the future of our children; are not doing that. They are doing whatever negotiations they want to do for their selfish interests. That is what has dragged us behind the scene.”

Obasanjo has never hidden his disdain for Kashamu who he said is on the wanted list of criminals in the United States of America, an allegation the PDP leader has continued to deny.

The ex-President, who resigned his appointment as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the PDP, has refrained from being active in the party until Kashamu is sacked.

The fight is certainly far from over.
