Media personality, Kemi Adetiba spoke out on Twitter yesterday about how she was turned away from a restaurant in Lagos ‘for being without a male companion’.

A staff of Spice Restaurant and Lounge in Victoria Island, where the incident occurred, has confirmed the reports and explained why Ms. Adetiba was treated in that manner.

According to Laila’s blog, the employee said that sending away unaccompanied women was the restaurant’s way of curbing prostitution.

“If men want to bring prostitutes, it’s fine but they don’t want any of them hanging around anyhow.”

Is the management of this restaurant saying women are not allowed to dine alone?
