They are each vying to be American Idol’s leading lady.
So Nicki Minaj was not leaving anything to chance as the two met at the American Idol premiere on Wednesday night.
While Mariah Carey skipped the red carpet, human Barbie Nicki couldn’t have made any more of an effort.
With her platinum blonde hair flowing down her back in one solid band, Nicki puckered up her hot-pink lips and flaunted all she’s got.
On her feet were a pair of retro black and white checkerboard platform heels that added about five inches to her frame.
Nicki, 30, who recently launched her Pink Friday fragrance in Sydney, Australia, was soaking up the spotlight in a big way.
But even those killer shoes couldn’t steer anxious sightseers away from asking, ‘Where’s Mariah?’

The songstress finally appeared to the Season 12 Premiere, wearing a black and white strapless gown that accentuated her bountiful curves.
The 42-year-old Glitter star was dripping with bling from the large dangling earrings to the thick bracelets.
The Hero singer wore her hair pushed back and long down her back.
Mariah was all smiles as she and host Ryan Seacrest took to the stage at Royce Hall at the University of California, Los Angeles.
The other cast members were there including newcomer Keith Urban and series regular Randy Jackson.
One has to wonder if Mariah is still simmering from the ongoing feud between her and Nicki.
The newest season of the successful talent show has already begun on a tempestuous note with arguing and disagreeing going on among the judges.
Nicki and Mariah especially have been at each other’s throats, with Mariah telling Barbara Walters on Monday night that she didn’t feel physically safe after a verbal spat in October.
‘It felt like an unsafe work environment,’ Mariah told Walters in regards to earlier reports that Nicki had made threats involving a gun.
‘Anytime somebody’s reeling threats at somebody, you know, it’s not appropriate,’ Mariah said. ‘I’ve got two babies… I’m not going to take any chances.
‘I did hire more security. I felt it was the appropriate thing to do.’
At the Television Critics Association panel of American Idol in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the show’s producers denied that the feud between Mariah and Nicki is a publicity stunt.
‘Whatever feuds there have been – and this isn’t just between Nicki and Mariah but Keith (Urban) and Randy (Jackson) as well – are genuine,’ Nigel Lythgoe, the show’s executive producer, said.
‘Whenever you’re in this sort of passionate situation, these things happen.’
