US offers to help Nigeria over Boko Haram terror

The United States government has offered its support to Nigeria in the battle against terrorism and insurgency within the coming days, Secretary of State, John Kerry announced in Ethiopia.

Kerry announced during a 3-day visit to some African countries  Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital while briefing newsmen on Friday. Read more….

WEF to go ahead in Abuja, despite bombing

The World Economic Forum scheduled to begin May 7 in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal will hold in spite of  recent bombing incidents in the country.

There has been anxiety over the Forum billed to be attended by heads of governments and business leaders as a result of two bombing incidents which have claimed close to 100 lives within 17 days in Nyanya, a suburb of Nigeria capital city.

Death toll from the latest blast on Thursday night, according to the Police stands at 19 while 60 others are injured. An earlier blast 17 days before claimed 76 lives. Read more….

Nyanya Blast: Commercial banks shut

The Branches of all the commercial banks operating in Nyanya and Mararaba area in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) failed to open for business on Friday following Thursday’s explosion in the area.

According to reports, customers of the banks who hurried to carry out transactions, especially to collect money were jolted when they found the banks’ gates locked.

No fewer than 10 branches of the major banks are located in the area. Read more….

Boko Haram kills 10 in Borno attack

No fewer than 10 commuters  and  motorists were slaughtered by suspected Boko Haram terrorists along Maiduguri- Beneshiek- Damaturu road, while about 7 vehicles abandoned by their occupants were seized.

Maiduguri- Beneshiek – Damaturu road has remained a death trap with series of ambushes, particularly last year during which over 50 passengers and motorists were killed  with over 20 vehicles set ablaze  in a single ambush by terrorists. Read more….

 Angry youths lynch policeman

Following alleged widespread illegal arrests by policemen serving in Anambra State Police Command, angry youths from Ogbunike community in Oyi Local Government Area of the state attacked five policemen from Oyi Police Division, killing one of them while the other four escaped on May Day.

According to online news portal, 247ureports, the five policemen led by an inspector went to Ogbunike community to arrest a youth said to be having a misunderstanding with a colleague. Read more
