After weeks of trumpets and boats, Senator Iyiola Omisore couldn’t pick the baton for a People’s Democratic Party victory from Ekiti’s Ayo Fayose. Not that he didn’t try. He picked the ‘man of the people’ vibe that famously got Fayose elected, and tried to run with it.
This morning, the Independent National Electoral Commission confirmed none of it worked.
What went wrong? Well, according to the Twitterati, the photo-ops backfired.

The tweets:
Mr. Omisore lost many Yoruba folks with the 2-handed grab of the corn cobs matched with that glutinous glint in his eyes. Best believe this.

In fact, it was said that the good people of Osun apparently opined that it was selfish of Omisore not to offer his driver one corn cob. Lol

@dupekilla Plus the riding of okada with hooded security agents following behind. Pathetic politicians scattered all over Nigeria.

Absolutely. The riding of bike was deemed cynical by the Osun people. It was a terrible strategy by Omisore just because Ekiti. Smh @HLemchi

Exactment! It is a complex situation as it was just a gimmick, clearly. But he shouldn’t have done that in a deeply cultural centre @yommix

He should have known that Yorubas would at least frown at holding food with both hands. At worst, it would be symbolic of his nature @yommix

So what’s the moral of this story?
Moral of the day: pay attention to cultural values else lose an election as violation penalty. @yommix
