Warren Buffet, one of the most successful financial investors of all time has joined the social media network, Twitter, and he could turn out to be the most followed on the platform if the unprecedented surge to follow him persists.

Within ten minutes of signing up, 10,000 users were following him and three hours later the numbers were climbing past 140,000.

His first tweet, however, got many wondering if it was not a parody account after-all with a hip-hop sounding intro: “Warren is in the house”.

Buffett, known as the Sage of Omaha, is the chairman and chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway, is famous for shunning new technology.

Berkshire Hathaway owns around 80 companies that include railway, clothing, furniture and jewellery firms.

This weekend, Mr Buffett will preside over Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder meeting in the US city of Omaha.

With just two tweets, Buffett currently has over 235,000 followers and still counting… Like they say, when you’re big, you’re large!
