Who’s the Boss? Keshi says Ike Uche wanted Nigeria to beg him

Super Eagles head Coach, Stephen Keshi has revealed why striker, Ikechukwu Uche, has continually been left out of the national team.

According to the Big boss, Uche was supposed to be part of the Super Eagles team taking on the Red Devils of Congo this weekend, but was excluded because he has been demanding an apology from officials for being left out of the World Cup.

“He was supposed to be part of the team that is presently in camp but he said we must beg him first to play for Nigeria.

“Uche feels aggrieved because he was left out of some competitions, but I can’t beg anyone to play for Nigeria, impossible. That’s why he is not here.

Uche however responded to Keshi’s claims via his twitter page. The Villareal striker wrote; “It’s an honour to play for Nigeria. I don’t expect to be begged or given special treatment. I’m available when/if considered for selection”.

Since making his début in 2007, Uche has found the back of the net 18 times in 44 matches for Nigeria. He last wore the Super Eagles jersey on February 10, 2013 in the final of the African Cup of Nations against Burkina Faso.
