They always say never to rush into an image overhaul following the end of a relationship.

So instead of going for the chop following her split from Chris Brown, Rihanna has opted for a more temporary approach to updating her look.

The 25-year-old singer was seen showing off a peroxide blonde bob wig as she stepped out in New York on Monday.

Rihanna’s bodyguards did their best to conceal the singer’s drastic new look from sight by hiding her behind umbrellas, but photographers were quick to snap a shot of the Diamonds star’s changed appearance.

While she looked thrilled with her new look, it appears as though the wig was part of a photoshoot, which she had completed earlier in the day for Mac.

She tweeted: ‘And that’s a wrap on another #MAC shoot!! 2 in 1 day!! Thats my damn team!!!’

Rihanna’s busy day also saw her shoot a campaign for her new River Island collection, with the singer tweeting earlier in the day: ‘2 day shoot for my upcoming Autumn/Winter collections with River Island was flawless! My models looked so damn good! Foreign chicks errwhere’ (sic)

Rihanna, 25, is doing her best to move on following her split from Chris Brown and seems to be throwing herself into work, instead of taking time off to get over it.

And the singer looked as edgy as ever for her evening shoot, pairing baggy leather trousers with a black cropped top.

She threw a long denim coat over the top and clutched a red envelope bag, finishing off the look with a small lace necklace.

So far apart: Following their split last week, both Rihanna and Chis has been hard at work, in between a number of wild nights out

Instead of getting changed before heading home, the star obviously liked her new image so much that she kept on the wig and bright red lipstick.

And while Rihanna was working late in NYC, her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown was on a shoot across the country in LA, as he filmed a video tribute for late singer Aaliyah.

The couple, who reunited last year, seem to have gone their separate ways last week, followed by a series of jibes on social networking site Twitter.

And to add insult to injury, it seems that R’n’B star Brown, 24, was partying at the same club as ex Karrueche Tran on Sunday, while Rihanna was in New York.

A source told HollywoodLife.com that Chris and Karrueche have been spending time together.

But apparently it’s the Forever singer who rekindled the romance: ‘He’s been initiating contact with her, not the other way around,’ the source explained, ‘I wouldn’t say Karrueche and Chris are together but they are talking and kicking it.’
