Wife who suffered horrific attack at hands of her husband has half her skull removed (PICTURED)

The victim of Sunday’s husband-on-wife cleaver attack on a Chinatown sidewalk has had half of her skull removed so that doctors can repair her injuries, prosecutors revealed today.

Jinyia You, 24, “sustained multiple lacerations to the head, two of which went into the skull, hitting the brain, and required removing half of the victim’s skull in order to stabilize the injury,” according to the complaint against husband Ming Guang Huang, 28.

The grisly detail was released today as Huang was ordered held without bail by Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Tamiko Amaker.

The judge arraigned Huang on charges of first degree assault and attempted murder — through a Mandarin translator and via video from Bellevue Hospital, where the husband is being held in a locked psychiatric ward and the wife is being treated for deep lacerations.

“This case is such a serious and strong case wherein two eye witnesses observed the defendant attack the complaining witness with a meat cleaver and strike her multiple times in the head, face and body,” Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Philip Kavoor told the judge in asking successfully that no bail be set.

The incriminating evidence against Huang includes threatening text messages he sent his wife, video of the attack from a Canal Street surveillance camera, eyewitness accounts and the meat cleaver recovered from the scene, the prosecutor said.

Huang, a Chinese citizen, must return to court March 1, when he will be informed of whether a grand jury has voted to indict him on the charges.
