WritersSpeakPoetry: I like my job but…

I like my job
But I want to go home at 4pm everyday
I do not want to work weekends
I do not want to work public holidays

I like my job, I really do-I just want to do it with ease…

I like my job
But I want a respectful boss
I do not want my supervisor yelling my mistakes to a 3rd party
I do not want my manager taking singular glory for my work

I like my job
But I want to shorten my commuting time
I do not want to spend two hours in traffic to work
I do not want to spend hours in traffic going home

I like my job
But I want my performance to be rewarded
I do not want to beg my boss for promotions
I do not want to spend money to buy salary increases

I like my job
But I want to dress comfortably
I do not want to wear suits in the heat
I do not want to wear heels if I am on my feet 5 out of the 8 hours at work

I like my job
But I want to eat lunch at ease
I don’t want to inspect several office assistants to decide who is clean enough to buy me food
I don’t want to run in the sun to the nearest restaurant to get it

I like my job
But I want to feel safe at my assigned location
I don’t want to be scared in the lift because it has a knack for shutting down at will
I don’t want to worry that my sight will dim because of unregulated hours spent looking at the computer

I like my job
I really do
I just want to do it with ease
In safety and without hassles
