WTH: Woman accuses husband of taking their 2-year-old son to hotels everyday

A young graduate, Mrs Bilkis Orebe, has told an Oshodi Customary Court in Lagos that her husband, Mr Olakunle Orebe, has been carrying her two-year-old son to different hotels at night.  Pleading with the court to dissolve her union with her husband, Bilkis also said that he (respondent) always lock her and her baby out of the house.

She said: “Every time, my husband comes to carry my son to different hotels at night. But ever since I brought the matter to court, he has stopped coming to beat me in my shop.”

The petitioner   who claims to own a shop where she sells provisions on Araromi Street, Oshodi, said also that her estranged husband comes to her shop to harass her stating that she moved out of the house for Olakunle with the two-year-old baby that their union produced.

The petitioner, however, informed the court that ever since she brought the matter to court, her husband has stopped coming to beat her in her shop.   “He was not like this when I first met him because we were in courtship for eight years before we got married in Oshodi here. He just changed suddenly,” she added.

Official duty

Crime Alert gathered that Olakunle (respondent) was first billed to appear in court on February 20, 2013 but he failed to show up and the case was adjourned till March 20, 2013.   The court president, Alhaja A. Olorunibe, asked the bailiff if the respondent didn’t get the letter from court but he said that he called to inform him that he was on official duty outside the country and wouldn’t be able to be in court.

Responding, the petitioner told the court that her husband brought their son back to her shop around 8 pm yesterday and as at 9 pm, she still saw him somewhere on Araromi Street.
