Teenager to serve time for stealing eight tubers of yam

At a hearing at the Magistrate’s Court in Ota, an 18-year-old man, Joshua Fagbolade, has been remanded in prison for stealing eight tubers of yam and two pieces of coco-yam, valued at N15,000.

Police prosecutor, Corporal Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Tuesday, 7 October at about 5.00 p.m, behind Nestle Foods Plc, Ota, Ogin state.

According to the prosecution, Fagbolade had stolen the farm produce belonging to a certain Edwin Ewa.

The teenager pleaded guilty to the charge of stealing, so the Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Abimbola, ordered that he be kept behind bars pending sentence. Sentencing will take place tomorrow.
