World football governing body FIFA, has warned Ghana over a Commission of Enquiry set up to investigate the performance of its national team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The Black Stars failed to make past the preliminary stages, from Group G that also had Portugal, USA and eventual winners Germany.

President John Mahama, through constitutional instrument 82, announced the Commission with the powers of the high court, to look into the events that transpired in Brazil.

The West African nation drew scorn, after the government dispatched a private flight with $3million in cash to settle appearance fees after the players went on strike.

However, FIFA says the three-member body is interference and could attract a ban – just like Nigeria, who are still under suspension.

Below are details of the FIFA letter addressed to the Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Dear President.

We have learnt from different media reports that the Presidency o f the Republic of Ghana had appointed a commission of enquiry and investigation into the Black Stars’ participation to the 2014 FIFA Word Cup in Brazil. The composition and the competences of the said committee are unclear.

Provided the reports are true, we deem it is important to clarify from the beginning the procedures and to ensure that the Ghana Football Association can operate without interferences as required by the FIFA Statutes.

Under these circumstances, we kindly ask you to provide us with a report at your earliest convenience.

We thank you in advance

Signed

Markus Kattner

Deputy Secretary General.
