Zaaki Azzay’s wife leaves him, accuses him of battery

by Akan Ido

Zaaki Azzay, the torchlight carrying Hausa rap sensation of the nineties (yes, we couldn’t resist), has been accused by his wife of incessant battery.

His wife Hadiza, who spoke with the blogger Linda Ikeji, said he was fond of beating her up for minor disagreements.

She said she had even lost consciousness on some occasions while taking a beating from the ‘Na Me Go Marry Am‘ rapper.

Hadiza, 29, went on to say that she had tried leaving his house twice earlier but was prevailed upon her family to go back to him and resolve their dispute.

According to her, the matter came to a head four months ago when they got into another fight and she decided she had had enough of the eight-year-old marriage.

There is currently a dispute between her and Azzay over the custody of their children with Hadiza complaining of harassment by the police through the instigation of her now estranged husband.

She had left his house with two of her three children, leaving the eldest one with him. She also claims to be coping through the assistance of a non-governmental organisation (NGO) which now sees to the welfare of herself and her children having being a full housewife when she was with the artiste.

Mr. Azzay has not spoken publicly on the matter.
