We will be more forceful on terror groups, says Jonathan
The Federal Government says there will no longer condone terror groups in Nigeria.
President Goodluck Jonathan gave this indication on Thursday during bilateral talks with Namibian President Hifikepunye Pohamba at the Conference Hall of the Namibia State House.
According to him, the federal government has decided to be more forceful in curtailing the activities of the Boko Haram group that is unleashing terror in the some States of the North-East region. Read more….
House of Reps orders probe of Alison-Madueke for allegedly spending N10 billion on private jet
The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into an alleged squandering of billions of Naira of government funds by petroleum minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, on the maintenance of a private jet.
The public accounts committee of the House is to examine whether Mrs. Alison-Madueke, one of the most controversial members of President Goodluck Jonathan’s cabinet, has spent N10 billion of state funds in the last two years to charter, operate and maintain a jet for her personal use. Read more….
Jonathan arrives in Namibia on a two-day state visit
President Goodluck Jonanathan arrived in Windhoek, the Namibian capital, early Thursday on a two-day State Visit.
The visit was on the invitation of his counterpart, President Hifikepunye Pohamba.
The President Jonathan together with the First Lady, Dame Patience, were received on arrival at the Hosea Kutako International Airport by top Namibian officials and the Nigerian Ambassador to Namibia, Dr Biodun Olorunfemi. Read more….
The General Manager of Owerri Capital Development Authority, Chima Anozie, yesterday, said the government would not compensate owners of illegal structures demolished in the Imo capital.
Anozie told the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, in Owerri that there was a need for developers to make relevant consultations before erecting any building in the state capital.
He said such developers should submit building plans to the agency before embarking on such building.
The general manager added that the government would soon move against houses built on demarcated open spaces and drainage channels. Read more….
