Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, a former Minister of State for Education, was on Wednesday kidnapped by unknown gunmen along Igbogila road in Yewa North local government area of Ogun state.
Anisulowo, who was a Senator between 2003 and 2007, was reportedly abducted alongside her security aide, while she was returning from her farm.
The Ogun State Police spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed her abduction, stating that she was kidnapped on Wednesday evening by armed gunmen.
“Yes. We have the report that the senator was kidnapped this evening by some armed men. The State commissioner of police, CP Abdulmajid Ali , has despatched teams to the area, Ilaro, for the rescue operation.”
“We want to assure the Public particularly her relations and those concerned that we will rescue her unhurt soon and the perpetrators will be apprehended.”
“We have embarked on scientific investigation on the kidnap case. And we are optimistic that the Senator will be rescued very soon.”
