The Nigerian music space is never in shortage of talented new artists and one of them is up and coming rapper “Fimi With The Flow”
The Rapper first went viral in March, after she dropped a 1 minus clip of her song “Halo” donning what could be considered church attire, her outfit and her lyricism captured the attention of thousands on Twitter and Instagram, and for days, lines from the snippet were being quoted all over the internet.
Her vitality did not stop there, as the next month, she went viral again for her choice of attire to her performance at a rave, where she wore an “Oleku” a shortened version of the Yoruba attire, iro ati buba, the picture of her in the attire went viral and got her 27k likes on Twitter and for months, women were wearing the same attire to raves, clubs and parties.
She was eventually invited to Zikoko’s HERtitude as a star performance and her name slowly started to become known.
Shortly after, she featured “Boytoy” singer SGaWD, and together they dropped a song called “Hei God” but Fimi did not stop there, she has continued to book performances and drop freestyles on her social media in a bid to make herself into a household known and in order to secure her place as a female rapper in Nigeria.
In an interview with Native, Fimi said some of her favorite rappers are Nicki Minaj, Tierra Whack, Doja Cat, Kendrick Lamar, Tyler the Creator, Doechii and J. Cole.
She has also said her interest in music began in her church, as a child, with access to the keyboards and although her path did not start with rapping, she enjoyed rhymes.
Her upcoming new song, “gentle baby” has already received praise from her fans on social media after she dropped a snippet. Fimi is here to stay.
