Shodade Solomon Segun, professionally known as “Shoday,” is a 25-year-old Nigerian Afrobeat singer and songwriter. He began his career in the Nigerian music scene in 2021 with the release of his single “Dey4you,” which he released independently through Azuri and received a co-sign from Don Jazzy. In 2022, he broke through with “Caution,” which earned him his first chart entry on the Nigeria Top 100 on 31 October 2022 at number 89. On 5 December 2022, on the TurnTable Nigeria Top 100, “Caution” peaked at number 38.
He followed through by releasing a remix featuring Skiibii, and by 2023, Turntable magazine listed him as one of 14 Artistes to Watch Out for; his next single, “Maradona,” which peaked at 94 on the Nigeria Official Top 100, proved that. He gained international recognition with his 2026 single “Paparazzi” with Fola, which peaked at number 1 on the Nigeria Top 100, number 7 on the U.S. Afrobeats chart, and number 12 on the UK Afrobeats chart.
Shoday has worked with artists like Davido, Zlatan, Kizz Daniel, Joeboy, and Bella Shmurda and is one of the most notable artists of his generation in Nigeria.
