Omowunmi Dada is a Nigerian actress who has been in the industry for over a decade. She began her acting career at university, where she took on small roles in stage plays. Her first major stage performance was in the play Moremi Ajasoro, directed by Femi Ok. In 2013, she began her career in the film industry with a role in the film “Oya.” Following her success in that performance, Omowunmi went on to feature in other notable films, including Kunle Afolayan’s Omugwo.
She is best known for her role as “Folake” in the M-net television series ‘Jemeji’, and in 2017, she also appeared in the Yoruba-language film Somewhere in the Dark, which won Best Indigenous Film at the 2017 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA). Her performance earned her a nomination for Best Supporting Actress (Yoruba) at the Best of Nollywood Awards in 2017.
In 2018, Omowunmi was the voice of the titular character in ‘Sade,’ Nigeria’s first full-length animated feature film, and in 2021, she played Halima Abdul, an investigative journalist, in the Psalm Oderinde-directed short film ‘Rebirth.’ In 2022, Omowunmi won Best Supporting Actress for her role in the film ‘Country Hard’ at the 8th Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards.
In 2026, Omowunmi was announced as a cast member in Funke Akindele’s highly anticipated film, “The Four,” and in September 2026, she was part of the cast of the Guinness World Record-breaking film “Black Market.”
