The Rivers state governor, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi has been re-elected as the chairman of the powerful Nigerian Governors’ Forum.

Reports say the governor defeated the Plateau state governor, Jonah Jang by 19 to 16 votes in the keenly contested elections.

Speculations have been rife that governor Ibrahim Shema and Isa Yuguda of of Katsina and Bauchi respectively were at different times anointed by the presidency to contest against Amaechi but both were said to have stepped down at the last minute to Jang who later lost the election.

Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state was absent at the meeting.

We shall bring you more details as we get them.
