Tukur and 11 others were charged to court last year by the  Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Their prosecution was over matters relating to their alleged involvement in the mismanagement of the fuel subsidy regime of 2011.

According to reports:

Mr. Tukur is charged alongside Alex Ochonogor, Abdullahi Alao, and Eterna Oil Ltd for fuel subsidy fraud amounting to N1.2 billion.

The suspects had been arraigned last year before Justice Adeniyi Onigbanjo before the judge was transferred out of the court’s Criminal Division.
