The Media Blog: “What did you become?” | Someone has finally come for Toke

She’s called Iyabeji (or OroboDiva depending upon some parameters we haven’t quite figured out yet), and she has a vlog called the Iyabeji Show. The log itself has apparently been running for some time now, gaining little traction, with episodes averaging around a thousand views each, save for 2 hot-button entires (one about “the other room” with upwards of 60k views, and another about date rape which accumulated north of 20k views.)

But this episode, which by the way, we suspect isn’t going to starve for viewers, is focused solely on Toke Makinwa’s book ‘On Becoming’. I mean, so many people have had one thing or the other to say about it. We ourselves have talked and talked and talked.

But yeah, she calls Toke out plainly.

It’s not an attack. Oh no. She even gives her credit, acknowledging the effort it takes to write a book at all. But she says what we imagine a lot of people have been thinking. “A lot of things don’t add up.” And who knows, maybe that’s part of Toke’s intentions, to show that people don’t always do logical things. But OroboDiva thinks it lacks much “substance” either way.

Funniest part, when she asks point blank – “what did you become?”
