The Film Blog: What Lies Within lands in cinemas

2017 has been quite the year for Nollywood.

From Isoken to Alakada Reloaded, local films have scored at the box office and this could be put down to the fact that Nigerian filmmakers have been putting in the extra hours to make better movies.

What Lies Within, a film written by Paul Utomi and directed by Vanessa Nzediegwu is one to watch out for.

Set in modern Lagos, What Lies Within is a thriller that documents twenty four hours in the life of two women in the middle of a rut. A seemingly small problem degenerates and adversely affects the lives of Ireti (Vanessa Nzediegwu) and Fiona (Michelle Dede), as well as those of their family and friends.

Extremely suspenseful and provoking proper discourse, on first watch, What Lies Within is a decent project.

It debuts in cinemas on the 8th of September.

Before that though, the premiere was held at Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, Palms, Lekki, Lagos and attracted big names like Rita Dominic, Chidi Mokeme, Femi Odugbemi, Judith Audu, Zara Udofia, Theresa Edem and Ashionye Michelle Raccah amongst others.

What Lies Within is a collaborative effort from A Cool Story Picture, Cornucopia Productions, VeeBlu Productions and Kukuruku Inc. It features an ensemble cast that includes Michelle Dede, Ebele Okaro, Okey Uzoeshi, Kiki Omeili, Paul Utomi, Ken Erics, Tope Tedela plus a cameo appearance by Steve Onu (Yaw).

You should peep.
